Tiny payments change the room

Cashu Wallet belongs in Wallets because Nostr's value layer is not an add-on sticker. Zaps, wallet connections and ecash experiments change how readers, creators, developers and communities behave around attention.

When payment becomes native to a social action, support can be small, fast and public. That is exciting. It also means permission prompts, wallet safety and spending limits need to be boringly clear.

Zaps are social payment receipts

A zap is more than a Lightning payment with a mascot. Under NIP-57, the payment can be tied to a Nostr identity and an event, which lets the social graph see support instead of only a private invoice. That changes creator feedback and public reputation.

The useful question for Cashu Wallet is what the payment proves. Did money move? Which identity was attached? Which relays received the receipt? What does the client show, and what should the reader not assume?

Wallet permissions need adult supervision

Nostr Wallet Connect makes remote wallet actions possible without turning every client into a full wallet. That is powerful because apps can request payments while the wallet remains separate. It is dangerous if users do not understand permissions, budgets and revocation.

A good wallet page should make the spending path visible: what can this app do, how much can it spend, how do you stop it and what happens if a relay or service disappears?

Cashu and the value archive

Cashu-related NIPs add another angle: ecash records can live around Nostr identities and relays while preserving different privacy properties. That area is still moving, so the archive should be careful and practical instead of triumphant.

For Crays, the wallet layer matters because value touches creators, venues, awards, access and community support. The small payment internet is useful only if normal people can use it safely.

What to do with it

Do not treat Cashu Wallet as a loose bookmark. Use it as a decision point: which idea does it explain, which page should you read next and which claim needs checking before you repeat it?

The useful habit is simple. Read the plain explanation, follow one nearby link and come back with a sharper question. That is how a large Nostr archive turns into a working map instead of a pile of open tabs.
